Twenty-eight Guild members attended the 2011 National Guild Conference, which took place at the Galilee Centre in Arnprior, Ontario from Wednesday April 27 to Sunday May 1.
This year’s theme was Fully Rely on God and Vice-President Dana Rittenhouse walked us through what this really means. During the three Key Note Presentations we looked at: Why we can fully rely on God; What it means to fully rely on God and How we can fully rely on God.
Needless to say, we also found ways to have fun with the FROG acronym. We all learned to do a little origami and produced paper frogs that actually jumped. We had a “Down by the Pond” fun night, where we played a lily pad version of musical chairs and the wonderful “Cup Game”, which Cora VanSmeerdyk taught us.
We were introduced to the Ungame, which was such a favorite that some took it back to their own Guilds. One activity that was very meaningful to many of the delegates was the explanation and use of the Labyrinth.
As this year was an election year, we elected a new National Executive consisting of:
President – Ute Lamb
Vice-President – Dana Ritenhouse
Secretary – Debra Poley
Treasurer – Phyllis Chilvers
Past-President – Valerie Lublink
Once again we held an entertaining and successful skit night and mystery auction, participated in a servant opportunity and enjoyed an evening with the Good Ole Boys.
We enjoyed a beautiful communion service prepared and led by our Chaplain Advisor, Bonnie Mason. Many of us were able to take part in the Sunday Morning Service at the Elizabeth Park Chapel before heading home to share and put into action what we had learned about Fully Relying on God.
